Ernie Perez

Ernie Perez, 59, of Amarillo died Friday, Feb. 25, 2011. Private family services will be in St. Mary's Catholic Church. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Ernie was born Feb. 15, 1952, in Aguascalientes, Mexico, to Jose Luis Perez and Consuelo Perez. His family moved to Amarillo, where he completed his schooling. He worked proudly for BNSF Railroad as a conductor for 35 years. Ernie married Mary Salazar on July 15, 2000. Together they lovingly joined a family of six daughters, two sons and 18 grandchildren. Ernie enjoyed riding his motorcycle, spending time with his family and playing with the grandkids. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joe; and his father, Jose Luis. Survivors include his wife, Mary Perez; three daughters, Christine Gallegos, Nicole Bell and Vanessa Perez; his mother, Consuelo Perez; two brothers, Guz Perez and Ru Perez; a sister, Martha Figueroa; six grandkids, Chubbs, Ashton, Jayden, Peach, Peanut and Pepper; and a crowd of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
