George D. Blevins

A celebration of his life will be at 11:30 am Tuesday, February 2 in the Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with Pastor Jerry Billington officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home 2800 South Osage St., Amarillo TX. George was born on December 3, 1936 in Huntington, Arkansas, and resided in Sonora, CA for most of his early years. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force until his retirement in July of 1975. He married Myrtle Bird on July 20, 1957 in Carson City, Nevada, and they moved to Amarillo in 1975. George enjoyed hunting, and was an avid fan of car racing and football. He loved his family unconditionally, and will be missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Blevins and Gladys Jones, and stepfather Bob Jones; a brother, Jerry Blevins; and a grandson, Bryan Blevins.Survivors include his wife, Myrtle, of Amarillo; 3 daughters, Barbara Kennedy of Cibolo, TX, Jeannie Blevins of Amarillo, and Teresa Gooch and husband Keith of Converse, TX; a son, Bruce Blevins and wife Anita of Amarillo; 2 brothers, Johnny Blevins and wife Regina of Inyokern, CA, and Bobby Jones and wife Mary of Amarillo; 3 sisters, Margaret Rana and husband Coy of Inyokern, CA, Betty Ladd and husband John of Ft Worth, TX and Deloras Dennis of Galena,OH; 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. The family requests memorial donations are to BSA Hospice and Life Enrichment Center.
