Wanda Darden

Wanda Darden 80, of Amarillo died Tuesday, January 28, 2014 in Amarillo. Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM Friday at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with Tom Foran, associate pastor at First Baptist Church officiating. Cremation and arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Darden was born on December 11, 1933 in Kingman, Kansas. She graduated from Northwest Texas Hospital Nursing School. In later years she received her BSRN from West Texas State University. She worked as a RN at Northwest Texas Hospital for many years. She also worked at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Baptist St. Anthony's Healthcare System and the J.O Wyatt Clinic. During her long career, she made many lifelong friends. She married Alsie Darden in 1955 in Amarillo. He preceded her in death in 1995. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Maxine Robinson and 2 brothers, Charlie Robinson and Donald Robinson. She is survived by a son, Bob Darden and his wife Nancy of New Rochelle, NY; 2 daughters, Melody Edens and her husband Swain of San Antonio and Molly Sizer of Amarillo; one sister, Kathleen Price of Arlington; 6 grandchildren, Chad, Jessica, Austin, Molly, Melody and Dauphine; 3 great-grandchildren, Zara, Marlowe and Hayden as well as many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Friends of the Amarillo Public Library, 413 SE 4th Ave. Amarillo, TX 79101 or Hospice care of the Southwest, 6600 Kilgore Dr. Ste. 110 Amarillo, TX 79106.
