A.D. Cleere

Services will be at 11:00 AM Monday at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with Dr. Randy Davis, pastor of Lifeway Fellowship Baptist Church officiating. Military honors will be rendered by the DAV Chapter 26. Interment will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Cleere was born near Hollis, OK on June 28, 1918 in Harmon County. He was raised on the family farm with his parents and eight siblings. He graduated from Lahoma High School in 1937. He attended Southwestern State University before serving with the Coast Guard. He served on the USS Pueblo during WWII. Mr. Cleere moved to Amarillo in 1951. He worked as a machinist at the Amarillo Air Force Base and the Amarillo Helium Plant. He was also employed at the Thomas E. Creek Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Mr. Cleere was a member of Paramount Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school. He also coached sports for Kid's Inc. He was a life member and Past Master of San Jacinto Masonic Lodge #1330 A.F. & A.M., the Lubbock Scottish Rite Bodies and the A.E. Shirley Chapter #986, Order of the Eastern Star. He was also a member of the VFW and the DAV. He married Lorene in 1953 at Clovis, NM. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2002,a daughter Glenda Hunkapiller in 2007, his parents and eight brothers and sisters. Mr. Cleere was a loving husband and father and grandfather. He will always be remembered for his smile and great sense of humor. He is survived by two sons, Carrol E. Cleere and wife Jan of Pflugerville and Kenny Cleere and his wife Donna of Amarillo; a son in law, Warren Hunkapiller of Renton, WA; six grandchildren, Terri Read, Carri Sorg, Tonya Green, Marc Cleere, Lisa Cleere and Stacie Felton and ten great-grandchildren. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the doctors and staff of Ussery-Road Texas State Veterans Home and Interim Hospice for the loving care they extended to our father. Memorial donations may be made to the Ussery-Road Texas State Veterans Home or Interim Hospice.
