Afton Virgil ""Beck"" Beckworth 102, of Amarillo died Monday August 23, 2010 in Amarillo. Services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with Rev. Lane Boyd, Senior Pastor of Polk Street United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Beckworth was born on May 5, 1908 near Stephenville, TX in Erath County to Ernest M. and Eva Bertha Beckworth. He married Mary Preston on December 25, 1939. They had two children, Sue and Kelly. They resided in the Sunray area where he worked for Shamrock Oil and Gas Corporation beginning in 1935. In 1959, they moved to Amarillo where he continued to work until his retirement as Manager of Manufacturing for Diamond Shamrock in 1973. After his retirement, he worked as a consultant for refinery operations in the Three Rivers, Texas area. In their retirement years, they traveled extensively in their motor home & were members of several RV clubs. Beck served as president of WAG RV Club in the late 1970's. He was a member of Paramount Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Beckworth in 2002, a grandson, Michael Beckworth, in 2007 and a great-grandson, Shannon Clark in 2005. Survivors include his daughter, Sue Corbett & husband Les of Amarillo; his son, Kelly Beckworth & wife Maurine of Memphis; 2 granddaughters, Laura Clark, & Emily Rector & husband Lynn all of Amarillo; a grandson, Adam Beckworth of New York City, NY; 6 great-grandchildren, Connor Clark, Alison Hollabaugh, Cody Rector, Sarah Rector, Morgan Rector & Molly Rector all of Amarillo; & 2 great-grandsons, John Beckworth & Jimmy Beckworth both of Dumas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to Craig Methodist Retirement Home of Amarillo. The Family would like to extend a heartfelt ""Thank You"" to all the doctors, nurses and staf that helped in the care of Beck during the passed few years.
