Alma Mae Throckmorton

Alma Mae Sherwood Throckmorton 88, of Amarillo died Tuesday, December 29, 2015 in Amarillo. Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 2, 2016 at More Church, 5511 Amarillo Blvd. West, with Gil Hiltbrunner, son in law and pastor of Shiloh Fellowship officiating. Interment will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Throckmorton was born on Oct. 24, 1927 in Eldorado, OK. She moved to Amarillo in 1964 from Lubbock. She worked as a telephone operator at Southwestern Bell Telephone and AT&T. She retired in 1987 after 40 years of dedicated service. Mrs. Throckmorton never missed a day of work in her career as an operator. She was a devout Christian and attended Trinity Fellowship Church. She married Glenn Throckmorton on Oct. 10, 1948. He preceded her in death in 1986. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Ye Old Pancake Station, the doctors, nurses and staff of Hospice Care of the Southwest and Sandra Vasquez of Sandra's Place for the faithful love and care they extended to Mrs. Throckmorton. She is survived by one daughter, Debbie Hiltbrunner and her husband Gil of Amarillo; two granddaughters, Alyse Hiltbrunner and Avonlea Hiltbrunner both of Amarillo; one sister, Shirley Maxwell and her husband Wayne of Pittsburg, TX and several nieces and nephews. Viewing will be from Noon to 5:00 pm. The family will receive friends from 3:00pm to 4:30pm on Friday and request memorial donations to Jeremiah 33:3 Ministries Widows Might Fund, 7550 Hillside Rd. #2807 Amarillo, Texas 79119.
