Angela Velasquez Perkins

Angela Marie Velasquez-Perkins 41, of Amarillo died Thursday, March 10, 2016 in Amarillo. Services will be at 11:00 AM Monday, March 14, 2016 at First Nazarene Church with Jeff Marcoe, Senior Pastor officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel. Angela was born on February 13, 1975 in Amarillo to Joe Velasquez and Susan Scherer. She graduated from Caprock High School. After high school, Angela worked for animal control while attending the Law Enforcement Academy. Angela worked for the Randall County Sheriff's Department and for the Amarillo Police Department where she was a detective and a member of the Honor Guard. Angela was a loving mother, daughter and granddaughter. She was fond of all animals. She enjoyed her 3 dogs and caring for and riding horses. Angela attended First Nazarene Church. Angela is survived by her daughter Shelby; her mother, Susan Scherer of Fort Worth; her father and step-mother, Joe and Michelle Velasquez of Haslet; her grandparents, E.P. "Sam" and Jessie "Mimi" Velasquez of Amarillo; four brothers, Anthony Velasquez and Matthew Velasquez both of Fort Worth, Michael Velasquez of Abilene and Marc Velasquez of Saginaw and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
