Arnold Lee Lovett

Arnold Lee Lovett, 68, of Amarillo, TX, died Thursday, October 4,2012. Arnold was born in Amarillo on July 14, 1944 to Wade and Georgia Belle Lovett. He attended Robert E. Lee Elementary and Horance Mann Junior High. After completing the eighth grade, Arnold quit school and joined the workforce. At eighteen, he married Nancy Taylor, who he met in second grade, and joined the Navy, where he was assigned as an ordnanceman to a VP-5 squadron. Arnold returned to Amarillo and went to work for the city police department and later served as a deputy for Potter County and became a member of San Jacinto Masonic Lodge # 1330. After several years working as a truck driver, he started Arnold Lovett Asphalt Repair with a pickup and a push roller. He hired his cousin and friend, Coy Lovett, and the two turned the company into a success, moving from fixing potholes to bringing underground directional boring to Amarillo. Arnold was an adventurer and enjoyed traveling around the world with his friends and family. He lived for the moment and found enjoyment in everything he did, whether digging a trench, scuba diving in the Red Sea, Standing on the Great Wall of China, or mowing his yard. Everyone who knew Arnold, knew smiles and laughter. He will be missed and his stories will be repeated. Survivors include his wife Nancy; daughter Sherry; Son Mark and wife Jen; grandaughter Katie and husband James; granddaughter Alyx and Jessica; grandsons Eric and Wade; and nephew Joe. He is preceded in death by his father, mother, and brother J.D. Memorial service will be held Monday 11:00 A.M at South Georgia Baptist Church 5209 S. Georgia St. Amarillo, TX. David Taylor officating. Family suggest memorials be sent to the wonderful women at BSA Hospice, 600 N. Tyler St.
