Athel Hickam

Athel Hickam 104, of Amarillo died Tuesday December 16, 2014 in Amarillo Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday in Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Amarillo, Texas. Athel was born on December 12, 1910 in Hollis, OK to Ben and Susie Davis. She went to school in Mt. Dora, NM. She was united in marriage to Stewart Hickam on October 23, 1931 in Clayton, NM he preceded her in death in 1986. Athel was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. She was a member of Eastern Star and a life member of DAV auxiliary. Athel loved basketball, swimming, dancing and horseback riding. She enjoyed making quilts and playing the piano. Athel also loved cooking for her family and friends. She is preceded in death by: two sons: Gary and Keith Hickam, a daughter: Billie Marie Hickam, three brothers: Orval, Clifton, and HT Davis, a sister, Opal Gross Davis, and a grandson Marvin Curtis. Survivors include: a son Larry Hickam, a daughter Norma Curtis Hawkins, a daughter in law Brenda Hickam, all of Amarillo. Grandchildren: Todd Hickam and his wife Jennifer, Heidi Johnson and her husband Paul, Andrew Hickam and his wife Kimberly, Michael Hickam and his wife Monica, Regina Bradbury and her husband Rusty, Benjamin Hickam and his wife Sarah, Caleb Hickam, Kimberly Kroeker and her husband Chris, Sabrina Gafford and her husband Rocky, Shanda Nicole Clark and her husband Brad, April Tavin and husband Adam, Angie Vences and her husband Esteban, and David Hickam. Twenty five great grandchildren.
