Augustine 'Peewee' Lopez

Augustine "PeeWee" Lopez 81, of Amarillo died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2019 in Amarillo. Services will be at 11 am Thursday at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with Bill Gamel, brother in law officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. PeeWee was born on Aug. 9, 1938 in Las Vegas, NM. He lived in Rocky Ford and LaJunta, CO before moving to Amarillo in 1970. PeeWee was a truck driver for 43 years for several different companies. The last 20 years of his driving career were with his wife as team drivers. He was always busy, working around the house. He especially enjoyed his animals, gardening and working on his small engines. He married the love of his life, Diane on May 26, 1977 in Reno, NV. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Bobby Slayton of Amarillo and Michael Lopez of Rocky Ford, CO; two daughters, Jennelle Diggs and Ginger Hanson, both of Amarillo; one brother, George Lopez of LaJunta, CO; eight grandchildren and two great-grand-children.
