Autumn Homer

October 28, 1965 — July 22, 2020

Autumn Ann Homer, age 54, passed away peacefully July 22nd, 2020 due to complications from brain cancer. Memorial services will be at 1pm Monday at Central Church of Christ Chapel. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Autumn was born on October 28th,1965 to Charles-Richard and Sue Davis. Richard was a career scientist for NASA and Sue, a wonderfully witty, southern socialite. Autumn attended Friendswood High School with her sister-friends Marney Faust and Linda Nelson where they excelled in academics and tennis. Autumn then attended Abilene Christian University, receiving a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, with a minor in English, in 1988. In July 1989 she moved to Amarillo with her then husband, Stuart Taylor. In December of 1992 they happily welcomed their first son, Hunter. And in July 1994 their second son, Jack, was born. For a while, Autumn found immense joy in being a stay at home mother of two. She hobbied in painting, reading, and jamming out to her favorite guitarists. Her favorite place on Earth was the sprawling beaches of Galveston, Texas. As a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, Autumn was a devout servant of God who dreamed of helping others. This dream became reality once her teaching career at Bushland ISD began in 2000. Here she was a life skills specialist for children with individual disabilities, whom she referred to as the purest souls in Gods creation. In April 2008 the Lord gifted Autumn with the closest thing to John Wayne this side of the Rocky Mountains, Corey Homer, who then later married in 2009. They lived happily in a home on the range, where the deer and the antelope play. Autumn achieved spirit and serenity through Jesus Christ and her prayer warrior collective of friends and family when she was diagnosed with brain cancer on December 22nd, 2018. Weeks later, her first granddaughter, Lillian Layne was born with her Honey in full command of the delivery room. Autumns strong spirit and determination led her ferociously into the crucible of cancer. She never stopped smiling or lifting up those around her. Autumn left this world surrounded by her closest loved ones and with a blooming euphoria of sunflowers outside her bedroom window. Survived by her devoted husband Corey, mother Georgie Sue, sons Hunter and Jack, step-daughters Ashlynn and Aubree, and granddaughter Lillian. In her honor, the family asks that you please donate to the Turn Center for Childrens Therapy, here in Amarillo, in lieu of purchasing flowers.
