Avelia Alcala

Avelia Alcala, 67, of Amarillo died Monday, January 31, 2022. Mass is 1:00 pm Saturday, February 5 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Officiated by Fr. Jose Gomez. Arrangments are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage. The family will receive guests Thursday 4-8 pm for visitation and rosary Friday at 6 pm at the funeral home. Avelia was born in Amarillo on April 7, 1954 to Jesus and Hilda Bitela. She was a very active member of her church, Our Lady of Guadalupe. She was very passionate about her relationship with God. She put her faith first. Avelia was a loving and giving person. She made sure her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were taken care of. Avelia was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Alicia Alcala, one nephew, Martin Gallegos, one sister, Marci De Los Reyes, three brothers; Smiley, Ricky, and Alex Gallegos. She is survived by one daughter, Angelica Alcala, three granddaughters; Amanda and Analicia Alcala, and Misty Ann Medellin, three grandsons; Anthony and Andy Medellin, and AJ Alcala, one great-granddaughter, Alice Rose Medellin, one great-grandson, Adrian Alcala, two brothers; Jesse Gallegos and his wife Betty, and Greg Guzman and his wife Terry, and many nieces and nephews.
