Ben Harris

Ben W. Harris went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 17, 2005. He was born November 21, 1930 in Delwin, Texas to Charlie and Della Harris. He married Betty Johnston in Oklahoma in 1948. She preceded him in death. He then married Lora Etta Mangum in Amarillo in August 1967. He was a veteran, and worked for Safeway and Homeland Foods where he retired in 1993. He was a member, deacon, Sunday school teacher at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, where he also served on many committees. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers Acie Harris, Cecil Harris, and 1 sister Mattie Lou Melton, and 1 daughter DeLynna Harris. Survivors include his wife of the home; 5 children Rick Harris and wife Debbie of Rivera, TX, Lisa Ellsworth and husband Pete of Culdesac, ID, Charresa Manning and husband Jimmy of Amarillo, Raelene Smith and husband Curtis of Hereford, TX, and Jaynetta Warren and husband Landon, of Plainview, TX 2 sisters, Gladys Woods, and Viola Woods both of Olton, TX; 26 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM, Monday March 21, 2005 at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church with Dr. Dana Moore officiating. Service and arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 South Osage Amarillo, Texas 79103. Family requests that memorial donations be made to Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Discovery School, 555 East Hastings Amarillo, Texas 79108.
