Bernardina Nina Gonzalez

Bernardina Nina Gonzalez 92, of Amarillo died Friday, September 25, 2015 in Amarillo. Rosary services will be at 6:00 pm Sunday at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with Deacon Alfredo Alarcon officiating. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM Monday at St. Laurence Catholic Church with Father Gerardo Uribe, celebrant officiating. Interment will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Nina was born on August 20, 1923 in McAllen to Ysdrio and Josephina Ortega. She moved to Amarillo in 1952. She was a homemaker and a faithful member of St. Laurence Catholic Church. Nina was very active with the Guadalupanas and had served as president four times. She married Apolonio Gonzales in 1944. He preceded her in death in 1997. She was also preceded in death by a son, Guadalupe Gonzalez in 2003. She is survived by five sons, Frank Gonzalez of Arlington, Juan Gonzalez, Jose Gonzalez, Apollonio Gonzalez and Manuel Gonzalez all of Amarillo; two daughters Maria Martinez of Amarillo and Guillermina Ortiz of Florida; one brother, Jesus Ortega of McAllen; two sisters, Victoria Rivera of Amarillo and Luz Omata of Colonial, Wis; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorial donations to the St. Laurence Guadalupanas, 2300 N. Spring, Amarillo, Texas 79107.
