Betty Sadler Taylor

Betty Sadler Taylor, 62, of Amarillo died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002.

Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday in Trinity Baptist Church with Dr. David Evans, pastor, officiating. Private family burial will be in Llano East Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St.

Mrs. Taylor, a Jesus Christ Christian, was born in Alberta, Va., to Peter David Sadler and Mollie Bell Corning Sadler. She spent her early years in Petersburg, Va. She married Robert Loyd Taylor in 1961 at Petersburg.

Her work in Amarillo included Diamond Shamrock Oil Co., Tascosa Baptist Church, Austin Middle School and most recently St. Andrew's Episcopal School of Amarillo. She loved working with children.

She taught preschool children in Sunday school class for 20 years, was involved in the bus ministry and taught a Sunday school class for Laotian children for two years. She was church secretary for Tascosa Baptist Church from 1970 to 1975. She continued her life work as a secretary and administrative assistant until December 2000.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Robin Melissa Dykes and husband Don of Amarillo; two sons, Mark David Taylor and wife Amy of Amarillo and Robert Scott Taylor and wife Amy of Richardson; five grandchildren, Derek, Donaven, Cole, Madison and Caitlyn; four sisters, Mary Hoover of Pittsburgh, Nancy James of Petersburg, Millie Blackburn of Richmond, Va., and Becky Douglas of Gloucester, Va.; a brother, Charles Sadler of Petersburg; and a half-sister, Virginia Richardson of Portsmouth, Va.

The family suggests memorials be to the Betty Taylor Fund at any First National Bank location in Amarillo.
