Bettye Gayle Pierson

Bettye Gayle (Clay) Pierson, 82, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022, in Amarillo, Texas. Services are pending. Arrangements and cremation are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage. She was born on September 6, 1940, in Floydada, Texas to George Weldon and Etha Lillian Clay. Bettye married Maurice Leslie Pierson Jr. on September 21, 1958, in Amarillo, Texas, and celebrated 63 years of marriage. Bettye is preceded in death by both of her parents, her brothers,Weldon Ray Clay and James Carroll Clay; two grandsons, Joshua David Ramos andBoyd Leslie Pierson; and their beloved miniature Yorkie, Sarah. In addition to being a homemaker and local business owner, she worked for Amarillo Independent School District and Meals-on-Wheels. She is survived by her husband, their three children, Maurice Leslie (Marty) Pierson III and Viva of Amarillo, Melynda Leigh Ackley of Amarillo, and Mark Lynn Pierson and James of Plano, Texas; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
