A celebration of his life will be at 11:00 am Saturday, October 8 at Comanche Trail Church of Christ with Loran Harper, minister, officiating. Interment will be in Llano Cemetery East by Rector Funeral Home 2800 South Osage St. Military honors will be rendered by the DAV Ch. 26. Bill was born on January 28, 1924 to Julius and Eula Avent in Tulia. He married Lonella ""Polly"" Finck on April 6, 1946. He worked as a Ranch Manager for Masterson Stinett Ranch from 1951 to 1981, was a Deputy Sheriff for Potter County for 10 years, and did contract truck delivery for Bruckner for 12 years. He was also on the Highland Park School Board for 17 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Fay Gress; a grandson, Billy Jack Avent; 2 brothers, Jewell and Jack Avent; 4 sisters, Berneise Oden, Madeline Reck, Melba Nedley, and Nadine Wade Hill; Survivors include his wife, Lonella Avent of Amarillo; a son, Jack Avent and wife Patricia of Follett; 4 daughters, Kay Tipping and husband Bobby, Jan Burchfield and husband Lynn, Terri Cox and husband Chuck all of Amarillo, and Polly Ann Gifford and husband Ed of Sugarland; 13 grandchildren, Roy, David, Jim, Bobby, Keith, Kevin, Bradley, Billy, Chuck, Chance, Trey, Alex, and Brandy; 8 great grandchildren, Tyler, Braden, Michael, Colton, Shyann, Shawn, Kody, and Cade; and a host of other relatives. The family requests that memorials be made to Comanche Trail Church of Christ Benevolence Fund.
