Bill Tapscott

June 18, 1931 — May 8, 2004

Bill Tapscott, 72 of Amarillo died Saturday May 8, 2004 in Amarillo. Memorial services will be 3:00 PM Monday May 10, 2004 at the Church of Christ at the Colonies with Dick Marcear officiating. There will be a private family burial. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home 2800 S. Osage Amarillo TX. Mr. Tapscott was born in Plainview, and grew up in Tulia and Wildorado. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He attended Texas Tech University and graduated in 1958 with a degree in entomology. He married Elaine Love in 1959 at Wildorado. He worked for the USDA for 42 years. He was a member of the Church of Christ at the Colonies. Survivors include: his wife Elaine of the home; 2 Daughters, Elaina Johnson of Burleson, TX and Elisia Escamilla of Georgetown, TX; 3 sons, James W. Tapscott of Jacksonville, AR, Austin L. Tapscott of Fort Worth, TX, and Lonnie Rae Tapscott of El Paso, TX; 1 sister Reta Draper of Amarillo; and 8 grandchildren. Mr. Tapscott will not be available for viewing. Memorial donations may be made to the Children's Home in Portales, New Mexico.
