Billy Gene Craven

Billy Gene ""Santa"" Craven 70 of Amarillo died Tuesday April 22, 2003 at Amarillo. Services will be at 2:00 PM Friday at Rector Funeral Home Chapel with Jimmy Craven, brother and Johnny Tracy, special friend officiating. Military rites will be by the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #26. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home 2800 S. Osage St. Amarillo, Texas. Mr. Craven was born in Wellington. He moved to Amarillo in 1961 from Clovis. He served in the Army for 2 years and the Air Force for 4 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He married Shirley Anne Temple in 1955. He worked for the City of Amarillo for several years as a heavy equipment operator. He retired from Medley Material Handling in 1978. After his retirement he served as Santa Claus for more than 15 years at Western Plaza. He married Nancy Doose in 1988 at Reno, NV. Survivors include his wife of the home, 2 daughters, Renee' Beth Wineinger and Koenia Annette Craven both of Amarillo, 2 sons, Charles Don Craven and Larry Gene Craven both of Amarillo, 1 step-son, Rex Burch of Vallejo, CA, 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. The family will be at 3304 Birmingham.
