Billy Don Rowley 68, of Amarillo died Sunday May 2, 2010 in Amarillo. Services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with Joe G. Jernigan, pastor of Calvary Christian Fellowship Church of Shamrock officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by the DAV Chapter #26. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Rowley was born in Shamrock. He moved to Amarillo in 1966, after being honorably discharged from the Army. Mr. Rowley worked for the City of Amarillo Transit System for several years. He received an award from the city for helping stranded motorist during the blizzard of 1975. After leaving his job with the city in 1977, he went to work at Texas Carpet and Rainbow Carpet where he was employed as a salesman for many years. He returned to his driving career as a contract transport driver for railroad employees. Mr. Rowley loved his family. He enjoyed spending time with them hunting, fishing and camping. He is survived by his wife Peggy (Mae) Rowley of the home, 1 son, Charles W. Rowley of Amarillo; 1 daughter, Teresa Ann Hinch of Fort Worth; 3 grandsons, Aaron Glen Clark of Fort Worth, Nicholas Don Rowley and Zachary Lane Rowley both of Kyle; 2 granddaughters, Casey Dawn Clark and Kayla Shaw Hinch both of Fort Worth. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donation be to Odyssey Hospice or the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter #26.
