Billy J. Young

Billy J. ""B.J."" Young 77 of Amarillo died Sunday February 26, 2006 in Amarillo. Memorial Services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday at Rector Funeral Home Coulter Chapel with Bob Thomas, chaplain of Odyssey Hospice officiating. Cremation and arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Coulter Chapel, 8310 South Coulter Amarillo. Mr. Young was born in Chilicothe. He moved to Amarillo in 1948 from Bowie. He worked as a brakeman and conductor for Burlington Northern Railroad 37 years, retiring in 1990. Mr. Young served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of the United Transportation Union, the Burlington Northern Retirees Assoc., the Amarillo Senior Citizens Assoc., and the Church of Christ. He married Georgia Lain in 1948 at Dinuba, CA. Survivors include: his wife of the home; 3 daughters, Sue Nelson and her husband Neal and Vickie Crow and her husband Don all of Amarillo and Lynn Young of Austin; 2 sons, Tracy Young and his wife Jamie and Tony Young and his wife Janice all of Amarillo; 1 sister, Doris Brown of Denver, CO, 8 grandchildren and 3 great-granddaughters. The family suggests memorial donations to Odyssey Hospice 6900 I-40 W. Ste. 150 Amarillo, Texas 79106.
