Brenda Joyce Wagner

Brenda Joyce Wagner 66, of Amarillo, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 16, 2018. Services will be at 2:00 pm Friday, at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with Ronnie Woodward pastor of Family Worship Center officiating. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Brenda was born in Amarillo on October 29, 1951 to Thomas and Juanita McEwan. She was fortunate enough to have a loving stepfather, James Alonzo Stout when she was only 10 months old. Brenda attended Whittier, Travis Junior High and Palo Duro High School and Amarillo College. Brenda married the love of her life, Lawrence "Larry" R. Wagner on September 15, 1967 in Sunray. They moved back to Amarillo where they made their home. To that union a daughter and a son was born, Cherlyn Jean Wagner and Lawrence R. Wagner Jr. Brenda will be mostly remembered as one that loved her family, cherished her friends and always extended a helping hand to anyone that needed it. She had a heart of gold and was always concerned about other people. She worked at many places, starting her career at Levi Strauss on Amarillo Blvd., from there she went to Whittier Elementary School as an aide, then to IBEW Local 602, and to IPB in the scale house. She also worked for the City of Amarillo Code Enforcement. She worked her way up to an inspector. She earned the Code Enforcement Officer and the Advanced Code Enforcement Certificate. She also worked as a residential plans examiner and permit technician. After 11 faithful years at the City of Amarillo, Brenda went to work at AIG where she retired. She also worked part time at S & L Auto and Rector Funeral Home. Brenda was an avid softball player for 20 years. She was a member of the Amarillo Softball Scorekeepers Association. She also enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Amarillo Womens Bowling association. She enjoyed travelling and camping and was a member of the Yellow Rose Chapter of the Good Sams Club. She was also an avid reader. She was preceded in death by her parents, two step-fathers, two brothers, Tommy Joe McEwan and James "Loney" Alonzo Stout, Jr., three sisters, Betty Sue Hodan, Judy Faye Sheldon and Lonita Carol Leal. Brenda is survived by her loving husband of 50 years; one daughter, Cherlyn; one son Larry, Jr., four grandchildren, Michael Wagner, Iesha Wagner, Trey Wagner and Chase Wagner; four great-grandchildren, MicAlyah, KeMauri, Mic and Eli; her brother in law, Dan Leal; a sister in law Denice Stout; for nieces, Terri, Rebecca, Pamela and Michelle; two nephews, both named Michael and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
