Candy Mengert Bass

Candy Mengert Bass 62, of Amarillo died Thursday, July 12, 2018 in Amarillo. Services will be at 11:00 am Monday at Christian Heritage Church with Craig Lawless pastor and Terry Rains officiating. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Candy was born in Amarillo on Dec. 22, 1955 to Harold and Lona Lewis. She was a homemaker and a military wife. She was an excellent mother and was instrumental in raising her children while their father was away. Candy worked for the TDCJ Clements unit for several years, where she met Jackie Bass. They were married on Feb. 14, 2006. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving aunt, Doris Pitt, a step-son Jason Bass, her grandson, Landon and a brother, Douglas Pitt. Candy is survived by her husband, one son, Charles Mengert of Amarillo; three daughters, Carrie Mengert of Los Lunas, NM, Dena Bass and Rebecca Murry and her husband David all of Amarillo; one brother, Roy Lewis of White City, KS; nine grandchildren, Chris, Garrett, Zachary, Cory, Kamron, Keyan, Karson, Chloe May and Ella.
