Carmen De la Cruz, 75, of Amarillo died Saturday, February 13, 2021. Mass of a Christian Burial will be 2:00 pm Saturday, February 20 at St. Laurance Catholic Church, burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel 2800 S. Osage The family will receive guests Thursday from 6-7:45 pm and Rosary will be Friday at 6:30 at the funeral home. Carmen was born in Durango Mexico on July 15, 1945, to Ester and Alejandro Dela Cruz. The family was very important to Carmen; she had a very large family so family traditions were very important to her. She never missed a family function. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother, but very firm. She had to be with eight Children and twenty-four grandchildren. She celebrated 52 years of marriage with her husband, Sesilio. They knew each other since childhood. Carmen moved to the US in 1997. Religion was very important to Carmen. She was a member of St. Laurance Catholic Church for many years. She also had to have a virgin Mary with her everywhere she went. Carmen was supportive of everyone. She was a hard worker. She kept her house very clean and was always cooking. Carmen had a good sense of humor. she enjoyed singing, dancing and loved her Novellas, but most importantly her naps. She always had to have her naps. Carmen had a green thumb and enjoyed her garden, especially her roses. She was very particular about her roses. Carmen was preceded in death by her parents, and one son, Carlos Puentes. She is survived by her husband, three daughters; Esmeralda Puentes and her husband Mario Capetillo, Nuria Puentes and her husband Thomas Martinez, and Juana Puentes and her husband Pilo Pilar Palomares, four sons; Jose Puentes and his wife Teressa Quiros, Juvenal Puentes and his wife Sonjuana Briones, Carmelo Puentes, and his wife Miriam Luna, and Noel Puentes and his wife Carolina Hernandez, twenty-four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
