A celebration of his life will be at 11:00 am Saturday, November 13 at Bolton Street Baptist Church, with Rev. Leon Green and Rev. Robert Field officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home 2800 S. Osage St. Casimiro was born on September 4, 1937 in Gonzales to Casimiro Sr. and Rafaela Garza. He married Aurora ""Oda""Hurtado on August 29, 1971 in Amarillo. A professional cement finisher, Casimiro retired from Gilvin and Terrell after 36 years. He was also an ordained Baptist deacon, and member of Bolton Street Baptist Church. Garage sales, fishing, football, cooking, dominoes, and western movies were some of the many things that he enjoyed doing. His family was also very special to him, and he loved each one immensely. He also loved everyone he met, throughout his life, so he considered no one a stranger. Most of all, Casimiro was a born again Christian who loved and served Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, 2 brothers, and a son. The family would like to convey a special appreciation to Jan Warner, Heritage Convalescent Center, and Ware Memorial Nursing Home for their wonderful care. Survivors include his wife; 3 daughters, JoAnn Jackson and Marge Pereida both of Tacoma, WA, and Elisa R. Pereida of Amarillo; 5 sons, Frank Pereida of Crowder, OK, James C. Pereida of Tacoma, WA, Jesse Pereida of Yukon, OK, Carlos G. Pereida of Amarillo, and Richard E. Pereida of Ft. Smith, VA; 2 sisters, Maria P. Torres of Amarillo, and Elisa Pereida of Alice; a step sister, Josie Moreno of Amarillo; 23 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the building fund of Bolton St. Baptist Church, 2555 Bolton St. 79103, Jan Warner Adult Day Care, 3108 Fillmore 79110, or Alzheimer's Association, 415 SW 8th Ave 79101. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Friday, November 12 at the funeral home.
