Cathy Hernandez

Cathy Quezada-Hernandez, 63, of Amarillo passed in her home on April 9, 2023. The family will receive guests on Thursday, April 13, 2023 from 4pm to 6pm in the Rector Funeral Home Chapel, 2800 S. Osage. Rosary will be read beginning at 6pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, April 14, 2023 at 1pm at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1200 S. Washington with Monsignor Joe Bixenman presiding. Interment will follow at Llano Cemetery. Cathy Mae Hernandez was born February 16, 1960 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Henry and Vera Marie (Provence) Hernandez. From an early age, Cathy was all about family. Her passion for loving her family coupled with her excellent cooking skills made her the go to person for family gatherings where she got to show off her vast assortment of Dolphins she collected over the years. As the light of every room, when Cathy wasn't cooking or loving on one of her family members, she could be found dancing to some good classic rock or what ever else made her catch a groove. Traveling was among her many favorite things to do. During her travels she would seek out the local Mexican Food establishments which were her favorite. Cathy cared so deeply about people, it led her to becoming a huge supporter and sponsor of AA. She loved helping those struggling with addiction find their peace and sobriety. This brought her great joy and pride seeing them achieve victory. Cathy is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Danny and Rudy, sisters Pearl, Noni, and Rosemary, niece Ashley, and two sister in laws. Those left to cherish her memories are brothers David Provence and Bobby King, sisters Tina Millis, Lucy Tyrell, Julie Swanson, and Annie Provence, cousins Anita Ochoa Constance Ochoa, Joe Castillo Jr and Louise Castillo, and Nieces Charity Weir, Raven Williams Amanda Johnson, and Becca, nephews JP Provence, Joseph Provence, Joshua Provence, and Jacob Provence; as well as many other loving family and dear friends.
