Charles Ray Riley 90, of Amarillo died Sunday, May 29, 2016 in Amarillo. Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday at Llano East Cemetery, Field of Valor with Ken Cole associate pastor of St. Stephen United Methodist Church officiating. Military Honors will be by Volleys for Veterans. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Charles Ray was born Dec. 4, 1925 in Wheeler County to Newman and Lora Riley. He married the love of his life, Betty Thompson on June 8, 1963 in Borger Charles graduated from Wheeler High School in 1944. He excelled at playing football for Wheeler High School, The U.S. Army and West Texas State University. He proudly enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1944 during WWII, serving as a 1st Scout in France and Germany. He was awarded 2 Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart with Bronze Oak Leaf clusters and a Combat Infantry Badge. Charles was a member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church and the Bridge Builders Sunday School Class. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Gene. He is survived by his wife of 52 years; two sons, Larry Parker and his wife Donna of Borger and Terry Parker and his wife Ruth of Buda; one daughter, Susan Poole and her husband Stephen of Spearman; 8 grandchildren, Kim, Jason, Ceri, Justin, Mike, Toby, Kristina and Shauna, 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
