Charles M. Tate, 81 of Amarillo died Tuesday January 15, 2008 at Denver, CO. Services will be at 1:00 PM Tuesday at Llano Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Robert Field retired Baptist minister officiating. Military honors will be by the DAV Chapter #26. Interment will be at Llano East Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel 2800 S. Osage St. Amarillo, Texas. Mr. Tate was born in Winters to Charlie and Myrtle Tate. He lived in Amarillo most of his life. Mr. Tate served in the Navy. He worked as a truck driver until the mid 1960's. He also worked for General Motors in Albuquerque and San Diego, and worked as a technical editor for Mitchell Manuals. He married Margaret Revell in 1947 at Amarillo. She died in 2005. Survivors include: his son, Ernie Tate and his wife Marie of Sherwood, OR; 1 daughter, Lynette Hartwell and her husband Kevin of Denver; 2 brothers, Eugene Tate of Amarillo and George Tate of Oklahoma City; 1 sister, Vera Snoddy of Tulia; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM 7:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
