Charlotte S. Bates

Charlotte S. ""Grammie"" Bates 73, of Amarillo died Thursday December 29, 2011 in Amarillo. Services will be at 2:00 PM Monday at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with Dr. Charles Jones, senior pastor of Hollywood Road Community Church officiating. Burial will be in the Field of Valor at Llano East Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Bates was born in Big Spring. She moved to Amarillo in 1970 from Big Spring. She graduated from high school in Odessa. Mrs. Bates was a homemaker. She loved serving her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Bates was also an avid reader. She was a member of Second Baptist Church. She married A.D. ""Doyle"" Bates in 1971 in Amarillo Mrs. Bates is survived by her husband; 3 daughters, Tana Williams, Leslie Williams and Toni Bates and her husband, Redic all of Amarillo,; 1 son, Steve Williams and his wife Kim of Amarillo; 5 brothers, Myrwin Smith of White Oak, Gaylon Smith of Houston, Glenn Smith of Tenn., Larry Smith of Calif., and Shelton Smith of South Carolina; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorial donations to the American Council for the Blind 2730 S. Grand St. Amarillo, Texas 79103.
