Clair Hugh Lackey 81, of Amarillo died Friday, Dec. 7, 2018 at his home. No services are scheduled at this time. Clair was born on April 24, 1937 near Huntley, WY., to Fred and Lorena Lackey. In 1954, following a wheat harvest crew to Farwell, Clair met his future wife, Jo Elaine Magness. He joined the Navy in 1955. After being honorably discharged, he and Jo Elaine were married in 1958. They made their home in Amarillo where they raised their two sons, Craig and Mark. Clair worked as an installer for Western Electric and AT&T. He retired in 1992. After his retirement from AT&T, he worked for FCI and Gonzales Communications and retired a second time at the age of 75. Clair enjoyed golf, fishing, camping and riding motorcycles with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and his son Mark. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, his son Craig of Amarillo; one grandson, Camron and his wife Jordan of Amarillo; four granddaughters, Berkli and Mackenzie Lackey, both of Amarillo and Madison and Mallori Lackey both of Burleson; two great-grandsons, Morgan Lackey and Kylen Toombs both of Amarillo; his brother in law Ted Magness and his wife June of Farwell and many nieces and nephews.
