Clarence E Blish

March 13, 1924 — February 16, 2023

Clarence E. Blish, 98, of Amarillo passed away on February 16, 2023. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023 and Sunday, February 19, 2023 from 3pm to 5pm at Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage. Funeral services will be held at Redeemer Christian Church, 3701 Soncy Rd, with Pastor Jacob Cates presiding. Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery East with Military Honors being provided by Amarillos Volleys for Veterans. Clarence was born on March 13, 1924 in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin to Elmer W. and Laura L. (Perry) Blish. In 1943, Clarence enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served in World War II. Following his honorable discharge in 1945, Clarence began working as a sheet metal mechanic. On March 16, 1956 he would exchange vows with his beloved Nan C. Cox in Covington, Kentucky. Clarence served in the aviation industry from 1946 with companies such as Autolite, Boeing, Pantex, and Lockheed Martin where he would retire in 1987. He wouldnt stay retired long because he just enjoyed working too much. He was a true handy man in every sense of the word. From fixing old tube TVs, to changing oil in his car, Clarence found pleasure in using his hands. He was often found in his garage "tinkering" with the car or working on some other project he had going. Clarence genuinely loved to help people. Even in his later years living at the retirement community, the residents did not bother calling maintenance because they could just call Clarence to help. Whether it was a simple light bulb needing changed, or a leaky faucet needing attention, Clarence was just a call away. Clarence truly enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed their visits, and the memories he had with each of them. He was the best Dad there could be. Clarence is preceded in death by his wife Nan, parents, and five brothers and three sisters. Those left to cherish his memories are his daughters Terry Ewing and husband George, and Linda Blaine and husband John; grandson Eric Daugherty, granddaughters Abbey Ramos and husband Juan, and Kim Epperson and husband Tim, two great grandchildren Brittany Feck and Adam Epperson, niece Carol Cherney and many other family and dear friends.
