Clarence A. Brewer

Clarence A. Brewer 93, of Amarillo was called home to be with his family on Thursday January 3, 2013. He was a very faithful Christian for his entire life. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Rector Funeral Home with Carolyn Gabel and Ed Arington officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. at Goodnight Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home 2800 S. Osage. Mr. Brewer was born February 12, 1919 in Van Zandt County, Texas to Oscar A. Voyles and Susie Annie Lou Vinnie Manning. He married Earl Dean Voyles on September 25, 1937. Clarence was an elevator operator for General Mills for 20 years, owned Frosty Drive-In, Dalhart Texas for 7 years, an Armstrong Commissioner for 1 term and a Goodnight, Texas resident for 30 years. He spent the last 3 years as a resident of the Ussery-Roan Texas Veterans Nursing Home. Mr. Brewer was preceded in death by his wife, Earl Dean in 2011, twin daughters Jeanette and Jeanell Brewer in 1949 and a grandson, Clarence Dean Brewer in 1963. He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers and 4 sisters. He had been a member of Oak Dale Grace Fellowship Church. Mr. Brewer is survived by 6 children, C.E. Brewer and wife Joy, Pat Jarnagin, Sue Bezner and husband Tommy all of Amarillo; Claudette Vigil of De Soto, Texas; Betty Kemp and husband Jimmy of Levelland; Joyce Davis and husband Mike of Hollis, Ok; 16 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 6 step-great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, 1 step-great great granddaughter. The family wishes to thank the nursing staff of Ussery-Roan and Beth Dresser and staff of Odyssey Hospice for taking care of our parents.
