Dale Hess

Dale Hess 71, of Amarillo died Thursday July 24, 2003 at Amarillo. Memorial Services will be at 3:00 PM Saturday at Southwest Church of Christ, with Gregg Wingrove officiating. Cremation and arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Hess was born in Hugo, CO and moved to Colby, KS at the age of five in 1937 where he graduated High School in 1950. Mr. Hess then attended college for one year at Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, MO. He returned from college and married Donna Garrett on July 13, 1952. He served two years in the Army and retired from the Army National Guard as a Captain after 18 years of service. After serving in the Army he worked with his father and brother in a family owned lumber company in Kansas. He moved to Amarillo in 1993 and was employed by Canyon Drive Lumber company. Mr. Hess was preceded in death by: his parents Francis and Carmen Hess, and a granddaughter Sarai Wingrove. Survivors include: a wife Donna of Amarillo, 3 daughters Dalene Hess of Forest Grove ORE., Tina Wingrove of Amarillo, and Mary Strayer of Kimberly ID; 1 son Kirk Hess of Riverside, MO.; 1 brother Dean Hess of Winfield KS.; 2 sisters Marilyn Wylie of Scottsdale, AZ. and Wanda Davis of Colby, KS. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to Crown of Texas Hospice or Leukemia and Lymphoma Foundation
