Eloy Dan "Danny" Leija, a cherished father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2024, in Amarillo, Texas, just shy of his 72nd birthday. Born on April 28, 1952, in Crowell, Texas, Danny was a man of vibrant character, known for his humor, adventurous spirit, and creative flair.
Danny was preceded in death by his loving parents, Ricarda and Luz Leija, one son, Luz Leija II, his sister Lucia Leija, and his brothers Victoriano, Samuel, and Treno Leija. His sisters Jane Cervantes and Anita Castellon, Elizabeth Cervantes, and Mary Medina also passed before him. He is survived by his devoted children, daughters Eloisa Villanueva and her husband Joel, and Ashley Hill and her husband Houston, son, Eloy Dan Leija Jr. and his wife Rosio. Danny’s legacy will also live on through his brother Israel Leija and sisters Ester Tanguma, Lena Castillo, and Celia Sanchez, who will miss him dearly.
Danny was a self-made entrepreneur who found success in his concrete company, which served as a testament to his hard work and dedication. His business acumen extended to the entertainment industry, where he owned two nightclubs in the 1990s that became hotspots for A-list celebrities. Danny's charm and hospitality made every guest feel like a star, and his establishments were a reflection of his larger-than-life personality.
Travel was one of Danny's greatest joys, especially when it involved hitting the open road in his RV alongside his brothers and sisters. These trips were filled with laughter, stories, and the creation of memories that his family will treasure forever. Danny's love for adventure was only matched by his love for gathering with friends and family. He was the life of any party and his presence alone was enough to light up a room.
Danny was often found at his favorite restaurants, El Tapatio and La Campana, where he indulged in the flavors he loved surrounded by the people he cherished. His impeccable taste extended to his wardrobe as well; Danny took great pleasure in dressing up and showcasing his collection of name-brand clothing. He carried himself with an undeniable presence that was both elegant and bold.
