David 'Jack' Lennon

August 18, 1962 — December 16, 2022

David Lennon, who preferred Jack, was 60 when he passed away on December 16th at his home in Amarillo, Tx. He was born in Hollis, Oklahoma, on August 18th, 1962, to Beth Lennon-Ellis and David Joe Lennon. The family lived in Dodson, Tx. during Jacks early life but eventually settled in the place he claimed as his hometown, Wellington, Tx. As he grew, he found a passion for football and even played for the skyrockets in high school when he wasnt tearing it up with his friends. After graduating, he attended Clarendon Junior College, completing an associate degree before transferring to Wayland Baptist University, where he found another path. Jack wasnt an ambitious man when it came to his career. Instead, his focus was people. No matter what he did, whether it was his time as a custodian at Lazbuddie, ISD, or the years he spent serving people at United Supermarkets, he built connections with those around him. No matter how many people he met, he never failed to share his true passion with those around him, his family. He loved his family with ferocity, doting on them to anyone he met. With his children, he found ways to share his interest, from old-school television shows to horror movies and a love for sports. He and his kids shared a passion for the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Rangers, and his Oklahoma Sooners. He didnt travel much but always kept in touch with his friends and family, often sharing minute-by-minute discussions of the games they watched or the paths they followed. It is no secret that Jack struggled with his health for most of his later years. However, it didnt define him. Instead, those who knew him remember his kind words and enthusiastic smile. Outside of work and family, he had another passion, his church. No matter where he lived, he found a place to worship the God he called his Savior. So, no, Jack wasnt ambitious, but no one who knew him cared. He made up for what he lacked in ambition with kindness, love, and a passion for others. His grandkids remember him not as Grandfather, Pop Pop, or Grandad, but Bear; a name that came from his connection to the sweetest type of bear there is, the Teddy Bear. Jack is preceded by his paternal grandfather, T.E. (Thomas Erwin) Lennon, and Paternal grandmother, Lorene Lennon. His maternal grandfather Curtis Buchanan, and maternal grandmother Bill (Audie Belle) Buchanan. Father David Joe Lennon, cousins Todd Roberson, T.J. (Thomas Jay) Roberson, and Uncle Lonnie Roberson. Jack is survived by his wife Jayna, his children and grandchildren, Jon and Christina Lennon, their daughter, Emma, Colby, and Brooke Odegaard; their daughters Caitlee and Carlee, Bradley and Jordyn Lennon; their children Hudson, Layton, Oliver, and finally Dustin and Lacey Lennon as well as their dog Whiskey (he claimed was his favorite.) His mom, Beth Lennon-Ellis, his Step-Dad Richard Ellis; His Sister Elizabeth Barbra-Ayne Wilcox, her husband, Dink Wilcox, niece Cheyayne Wilcox and nephew, Rebel Wilcox of Amarillo, TX his aunt Barbra Roberson, His cousins Ryan and Tana Roberson; their kids Quinn, Peyton, and Luke, and although he never got the chance to meet them (but not from a lack of desire), Stepbrothers Chad Ellis, and Stacy Ellis. Jacks departure will leave a hard-to-fill void, but his memory will live on in hearts and minds. Hes no longer here to share his enormous love, but he has more than earned his rest. We will all miss him very much.
