Delmar "Doug" Fairley, 92, followed his Lord to his Heavenly home on June 11, 2018. Doug was born March 8, 1926 in Roberts, Illinois to Ray and Anna Fairley. He was the 7th of 13 children. At the age of 18, he served our Country in World War II with the Fighting 69th Infantry Division, 272nd Infantry Regiment. His Unit was the main force in the liberation of Lipzig Germany. After the war he returned to Illinois to work with his Dad on the family farm. He worked as a diesel mechanic for John Deere for the next 30 years in Illinois, Arizona and California. He married Elaine Meadows, February 20, 1955. They had two children. On October 30, 1968, Doug married his soul mate, Venice Cully Stuckey, thus becoming a wonderful blended family. He spent several years doing maintenance for a land development company in McQueeney, Texas until his retirement in 1992. In 1993, Doug and Venice settled in Roaring Springs, Texas to start the next chapter of their life. Doug is preceded in death by his parents, 10 brothers and sisters, 1 step son and a great-great grandson. He is survived by his wife, Venice of the home, 3 daughters, Cheryl Hubner and husband George of Roaring Springs, Texas; LuAnn Lynch and husband John of Yukon, Oklahoma; Dee Brown and husband Raymond of Valle de Oro, Texas; Son, Scott Fairley and wife Cathy of McQueeney, Texas; One sister, Wilma Johnson of Pontiac, Illinois; One brother, Alvin Fairley of Gibson City, Illinois; 14 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Doug became a member of the Church of Valle de Oro on March 2, 2016. He loved being outdoors, working in his garden, growing tomatoes and many other delicious vegetables, picking up pecans and apricots to share with family and friends. He loved growing beautiful roses for his wife. Doug and Venice traveled in their RV to 49 states and Canada, meeting lifelong friends along the way. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made the American Cancer Society or charity of choice.
