DeLois Young 72, of Amarillo died Wednesday May 12, 2010 in Amarillo. Services will be at 11:00 AM Monday at Comanche Trail Church of Christ with Loran Harper, pastor officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Young was born in Foss, OK. She moved to Amarillo more than 50 years ago from Borger. She worked as a secretary for State Chemical for several years and as a clerk for Furr's and Homeland Grocery Stores for many years. After her retirement, Mrs. Young's most rewarding job was taking care of her grandchildren. Mrs. Young was an active member of Comanche Trail Church of Christ. She enjoyed helping with the Wednesday night ""Simple Supper"" meal. She was also active with the Sonshiners. She loved playing dominos with her friends, square dancing and bowling. She served as the secretary of the Fire Fighters Bowling League. She married Eugene ""Gene"" Young on May 9, 1986 in Amarillo. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Ryder in 1984. She is survived by her husband; 2 daughters, Pam Snyder and her husband Casey, Brenda Holmes and her husband Ken all of Amarillo; 1 son Mike Jennings of Amarillo; 3 step-daughters, Denise Davenport and her husband Mark of Amarillo, Jana Young of Bertram and Dee Clark of Grand Prairie; 3 brothers, O'Dell Stroud of Worland, WY, Paul Stroud of Fort Worth and Darrel Stroud of Salina, OK; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be to the Comanche Trails Church of Christ Benevolence Fund.
