Deloris Adkins

Deloris Popejoy Stubbs Adkins 87, of Amarillo died Monday December 12, 2016 in Amarillo. Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday at Lane Memorial Cemetery in Sunray with Billy Bell officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Adkins was born on July 28, 1929 to Tobe and Beatrice (Phillips) Popejoy. She was a triplet and one of six children. She married Marcus Stubbs while living in Sunray. They raised two children, Dawson Lee and Dena Marie Stubbs. Deloris is remembered as a loving mother and Nana. While living in Sunray, Deloris was a member of the Sunray Church of Christ. She loved the fellowship she had with many members there. She also enjoyed teaching Sunday school. Most of all, Deloris loved singing praises to God. She worked at the Sunray department store for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Kenneth Popejoy, her triplet sister, Doris Miller, and sister, Rosalee Stubbs, her first husband Marcus and husband Joe Adkins. Deloris is survived by her two children, Dawson Lee Stubbs of Amarillo and Dena Marie Stubbs of Clovis, NM; a sister, Chris Bennett of Okmulgee, OK; one brother, Dawson Popejoy and wife Rena of Sunray; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
