Dena Lois ""Sue"" Touchon, 82 of Amarillo went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Friday, December 14, 2012. Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM Monday at Trinity Baptist Church with Nate Magloughlin, pastor, Dr. Carey Skinner, associate pastor and Todd Blackhurst, minister of education officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home. 2800 S. Osage St. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Hamlin First Baptist Church. Interment will be at Hamlin Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Foster-Adams Funeral Home of Hamlin. Sue was born September 13th 1930, in Haskell, Texas. She graduated from Hamlin High School in 1948. She attended Draughon's Business College. Sue worked as a secretary to the counselors for the Amarillo Independent School District for 12 years. She served at Horace Mann Middle School, Amarillo High School and Caprock High School. She took great pride in knowing the faculty and students of each school by name. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church for 40 years. She loved serving God and the church by helping the music ministry file the music every week. She reluctantly retired because of her eyesight. Sue married the love of her life, Laurence ""Larry"" Touchon on August 4 1950. She and Larry eloped to Clovis, NM. She didn't tell her parents until they returned home. Sue was loved by everyone with whom she came in contact. The hospital personnel loved her for her unselfish attitude. The only word which could describe her personality is LOVE. She was a great encourager to her children. She encouraged her son, Ron in his tennis abilities and he won the state tennis championship in 1969. She also encouraged her daughter Karen to graduate from West Texas A&M University and become an outstanding, top ranked insurance salesperson. She is survived by her husband, one son, Ronald Touchon of Grandbury; one daughter, Karen Hunt of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Sam Touchon of Kyle and Ben and Valerie Burba of Amarillo; three great- grandchildren, Aren, Freddie and Bridick. Sue had a heart for missions. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Sue Touchon Mission Fund at Trinity Baptist Church 1601 W. IH 40, Amarillo, Texas 79109. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 6:30 Sunday at Rector Funeral Home.
