Dominga Villagomez Arenas

Dominga Villagomez Arenas 91, of Amarillo died Tuesday, January 10, 2017 in Amarillo. Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM Thursday at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM Friday at St. Mary's Cathedral with Father Scott Raef, celebrant, officiating. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Arenas was born on February 1, 1925 in Waco to Guadalupe and Antonia Villagomez. She moved to Amarillo in 1964 from Roaring Springs. Mrs. Arenas was very involved with family activities. She enjoyed gardening, doing arts and crafts and sewing as well as crochet. She was an excellent cook and dearly loved caring for her family. She married Manuel Arenas in 1941 in Levelland. He preceded her in death in 1979. She was also preceded in death by her two sons, Esequiel Arenas in 1967 and Manuel Arenas, Jr. in 1968. She was a faithful member of St. Mary's Cathedral. Survivors include nine daughters, Antonia Todd of Albuquerque, NM, Carmella Castillo, Josie A. Solis, Martha Aldape, Yolanda Gillizeau and Renee Arenas all of Amarillo, Mary Ellen Escoto of North Richland Hills, Mary Jane Martinez of San Antonio and Ortencia DeLeon of Arlington; 20 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
