Donald Ray Evans

Donald Ray Evans 71, of Amarillo died Tuesday August 25, 2009 in Amarillo. Services will be at 11:00AM Friday at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with Don Ralston and Ed Arington officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Evans was born in Amarillo. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a jet mechanic. After being honorably discharged, Mr. Evans worked for ASARCO and retired from Amarillo Hardware. Mr. Evans was well known for his singing ability. He sang with the ""Good News Quartet"", for several years. He was also asked to sing at weddings, funerals, church services and nursing homes. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mabel Lee Evans in 1963. He is survived by his wife Virginia of Amarillo; 2 daughters, Rhonda Evans of Amarillo and Sharon Evans of El Reno, OK; 3 sons, Shane Evans of Oklahoma City, and Darron Evans and Darwin Clayton Boyd both of Amarillo; 1 sister, Mary Frances Farris of Amarillo; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Olivia's Angels c/o BSA Hospice, 600 N. Tyler, Amarillo Texas 79107 The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00PM to 7:00PM
