Dora Jannell Davis

Dora Jannell "Momma Jay" Davis 69, of Amarillo died Wednesday, June 21, 2017 in Amarillo. A private gathering of family and friends will be Saturday, June 24, 2017. Cremation was by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Davis was born in Lubbock on April 23, 1948. She graduated from Northwest Texas School of Nursing and worked in many nursing positions at Northwest Texas Hospital including, ICU, ED and House Supervisor from 1972 to 2002. She was currently employed at Texas Tech in utilization management. She was known as Momma Jay to many of her co-workers and doctors. She was very passionate and a perfectionist at her job. Mrs. Davis was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She married James Neil Davis on November 4, 1972 in Amarillo. He preceded her in death in 2007. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters. She is survived by two daughters, Amy Schmidt and her husband Matt of Denver, CO, and Lisa Davis and her husband Jason of Pampa; two granddaughters, Hallie Davis of Amarillo and Annabel Schmidt of Denver, CO.
