Doris Jean Donald-Brown

December 26, 1944 — January 7, 2011

A celebration of her life will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, January 11 at Christian Heritage Church with Gary Burd, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home 2800 S. Osage St. Doris was born on December 26, 1944 in Corinth, MS, and moved to Amarillo in 1950. She married Rex Donald in 1963, and after his passing in 1995, married Dean Brown in 1997. He passed in 2000. She worked in food service for many years, retiring from Petro in 2005. Doris, at times, was feisty. Her sense of humor often brought smiles to those in her presence. She enjoyed collecting various hand bells, and was an avid Walker Texas Ranger and Game Show Network viewer. Most importantly, she cherished Saturdays with her grandchildren, and taking them to church on Sundays. Our hearts will be forever grateful for the joy she brought into our lives. Survivors include her daughter, Darlene Donald of Mayville Michigan; 2 sons, Jessie and Joey Donald both of Amarillo; 3 sisters, Evelyn Baswell of Corinth, MS, Mae Smith and Helen Smith both of Amarillo; 11 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Hospice Care of the Southwest, and Christian Heritage Church. The family will receive friends from 6-7pm Monday, January 9 at the funeral home.
