Dorothy Cody Bell

Dorothy Cody Bell, 79 of Amarillo died Wednesday May 28, 2003 at Amarillo. Memorial Services will be at 4:00 PM Friday at Rector Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Charles Jones, pastor of Second Baptist Church officiating. Cremation and arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Bell was born in Wichita Falls. She was raised in Hartley, where she graduated from high school. She moved to Modesto, CA where she managed a restaurant for 10 years. She returned to Amarillo where she worked at the Hickory Inn for 4 years, retiring because of illness. She was active at Second Baptist Church until she became disabled. She married Gene Cody in 1944. He preceded her in death in 1973. She was preceded in death by her second husband, Ralph Bell in 1988 Mrs. Bell enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Survivors include 3 daughters; Darlene Sollberger, Wanda Yvonne Lee and Ginger Kay Johnston all of Amarillo, 2 sons; Bob Cody of Amarillo and Tommy Jack Cody of Modesto, CA, 1 brother; Tommy Kelley of Lubbock, 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
