Dorothy Shannon

Dorothy Shannon, 84, of Amarillo died Friday September 19, 2008 in Amarillo. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Monday at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Scott Richards, pastor officiating. Committal services will be at 2:00 Monday at Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Dimmitt, with Rev. Derrel Evins, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Dimmitt officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel 2800 S. Osage St. Amarillo, Texas. Mrs. Shannon was born in Heidenhammer, Texas. She grew up in Dimmitt, and graduated from Dimmit High School in 1940. She married L.F. ""Fate"" Shannon in 1941 at Clovis. They lived mostly in Dimmitt and Hereford. They moved to Amarillo from Hereford in 2000. Mrs. Shannon was a homemaker and seamstress, and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter in 1944, and by 2 grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of the home; 1 daughter, Kathy Christie of Dallas; 3 sons, David Shannon of Borger, Ken Shannon of Dimmitt, and Ray Shannon of Boerne; 1 brother, Ivan Sinclair of Warrington, VA; 9 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to Olivia's Angels c/o BSA Hospice, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, Texas 79105.
