Dorothy Stroud Yara

Dorothy Stroud Yara 72, of Amarillo died Thursday, Dec. 17, 2020 in Amarillo. Private family services will be at Blue Mound Cemetery in Balko, OK. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Dorothy was born on Oct. 15, 1948 in Perryton. She lived in Perryton most of her life. She moved to Amarillo 20 years ago. She worked at GTE for more than 25 years. Dorothy started as an operator and retired as the warehouse manager. She married Jimmy Yara on Nov. 16, 1964 in Perryton. He preceded her in death in 2010. She was a member of First Family Church in Amarillo. Dorothy is survived by her son Jimmy Yara and his wife Heather of Amarillo; three daughters, Angie Yara, Carolyn Yara and Marilyn Yara, all of Amarillo; two brothers, Darrell Stroud and Harold Stroud; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the First Family Church, 6101 S. Bell St., Amarillo, Texas 79109.
