Doyle Graves 81, of Amarillo died Tuesday, May 7, 2013 in Amarillo. Services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday at South Georgia Baptist Church with Bob Miller officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors rendered by the DAV Chapter #26. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Graves was born in Kenlock, OK on November 10, 1931. He enlisted in the Navy in 1952. He served aboard the USS Hector AR7 during the Korean War. He received the Korean Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1956. Mr. Graves lived in Amarillo, Sherman and Ardmore, OK. He worked as a cable technician and installed the cable network at Cal Farleys Boys Ranch. He was an extraordinary family man. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and was considered by his family to be the best baby holder in the world. He was also considered to be the best father his 7 children could have ever had. He is survived by 1 son, James Russell Graves and his wife Sally of Austin; 6 daughters, Mary Miles and her husband Dave of Elizabeth, CO, Janice Boyd and her husband Steve of Yukon, OK, Claudia Graves Roth and her husband Dave of Littleton, CO, Carla Rubino of Canyon and Deborah Graves Wilson and Rebecca Graves Jackson and her husband Dickey Don all of Amarillo; 4 brothers, Lonnie Graves of Madill, OK, Dan Graves of Flagstaff, AZ, Bobby Joe Graves of Dewey, AZ and Lee Graves of Virden, NM; 3 sisters, Waynette Stout and Audeen Huffman both of Madill, OK and Muriel Haugland of Dennison; 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM 6:30 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
