Dr. Jimmy Reese

Dr. Jimmy Reese 73, of Amarillo died Sunday October 5, 2008 in Amarillo. Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Canyon with Jerry Fielder, friend and retired Baptist minister and Dr. David Lowery, pastor of First Baptist Church of Canyon officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home 2800 S. Osage St. Amarillo, Texas 79103 Dr. Reese was born in Gainesville on September 26, 1935 to Carroll and Martha (Proffer) Reese. He graduated from Guymon High School. He was called to preach his senior year of high school. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Oklahoma Baptist University and a Doctorate of Sacred Theology from Southwest Baptist University at Bolivar, MO. Dr. Reese served churches in Kansas, Oklahoma, Alabama and Texas. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Buffalo Club. Dr. Reese also served on various athletic committees at West Texas A&M University. He married his beloved wife, Elaine Allen in May of 1967 at Liberal, KS. Dr. Reese was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Jacque Carter. Survivors include his wife of the home; 1 son, Shane Reese and his wife Shana of Amarillo and a grandson, Ryland Reese.
