Eddie Marion Watson Jr. (90) of Burkburnett, TX passed away at his home on February 20, 2024.
Loved beyond measure Ed was a father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, friend, and a strong Christian.
Ed was born on October 8, 1933 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Eddie Marion Watson Sr. and Iva Eunice Watson. He graduated in 1952 from Okmulgee High School. Ed served proudly in the United States Army 3rd Field Artillery.
He was a Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of The American Legion and the VFW. When thanked for his service he would say “It was an honor, and you were worth it”.
Ed was married to Virginia Rozell from 1955 until her passing in 1997. They were blessed with two daughters.
Ed married Glenda Watson in 2019 at Calvary Baptist Church in Burkburnett, where they first met.
As a former Eagle Scout, Ed loved the outdoors. He created works of art with wood, plants, rocks, pastels, and even tumble weeds. Most of all Ed loved people.
After retirement, he became a skilled scroll saw artist. Some of his creations took months to complete. He eagerly showed pictures of his work to anyone expressing an interest.
Ed’s greatest joy was his family. He celebrated his 90th birthday with family and friends on October 8, 2023.
He is survived by his wife Glenda, daughters Bronna McNeely, Melinda Hamlin and husband Robert, grandchildren Breonna
McNeely, Douglas Hamlin, Christy Robertson, Laury Reece, and several great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8p.m. Monday February 26 at Rector Funeral home, and a graveside service will be held at 1p.m. on Tuesday February 27 at Llano Cemetery in Amarillo TX.
