Elbert Earl Foster, 84, of Amarillo, died Sept. 22, 2019. A private family Masonic burial and memorial will take place at a later date near Merkel, Tx. Arrangements and cremation are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S Osage St. Elbert was born on July 26th,1935 in Merkel to Clyde Earl and Margaret Dean Foster. Elbert left home after graduating at the age of 18. He became a real working cowboy and went on to work on many mustang and cattle drives. He had many funny stories of the chuckwagons, bunkhouses and the buckaroo life. Elbert married his sweetheart, Phyllis M. McKendrick on Dec. 10th,1956 in Winnemucca, Nv. they were married 62 wonderful years and had two daughters. He became a Master Mason at the age 23. Elbert had a strong affinity for animals, especially horses. He adored his Quarter Horse "Tommy". He never allowed an animal to suffer. Elbert went to T.S.T.I to study saddle and tack making. He eventually became an instructor. He was an avid gun collector and enthusiast and he also loved hunting and fishing. Elbert was well known for his famous homemade beef jerky. He always helped a friend when he could. He loved his grandchildren immensely. Elbert was preceded in death by his parents, his step-Mother, Martell Foster, his sister, Dorothy Denning, a granddaughter, Megan Lynn Clemence and several family members and best friends. He is survived by his beloved wife, two daughters; Andrea Anaya and her husband Ronnie, of Clovis, N.M., Audrea Clemence and her husband Bryan, of Amarillo, four grandchildren; Austin and Seth Clemence of Amarillo, Jennifer Jaramillo of Albuquerque, N.M. and John Peter Jacoby and wife, Lauren of Clovis, N.M.; Three great grandchildren, Elisha and Kaley Jaramillo and Jake Jacoby. Memorial donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association or the Clyde, Tx Masonic Lodge #1056. A.F. & A.M. Direct Cremation Thursday, September 26, 2019
